Art Classes for Children, Cleveland area, East Side
******* Art Smarts *******
There are very few activities parents and children can do together where both parent and child are equally challenged, equally experiencing something new, and equally vulnerable. Such a sharing between parent and child creates new bonds of closeness, awareness, and understanding of each for the other.
All ages, from five up, can do these drawing-based exercises. No one is looking at the paper while making marks on paper to correspond to their eye movement as they observe the edges of a wide variety of objects. Since you are not looking at the paper, you are not responsible for how the drawn image looks! This process is both a beginning drawing lesson and a way to access the relaxation response, an important function that brings inner peace, awareness of others, and personal empowerment to manage everyday difficulties. Yes, children can do it. (So can moms and dads.)
Learn easy exercises for connecting with the world and with each other.
Experiential: do the exercises, feel the results.
Useful: Learn a technique to do at home, in the car, while waiting in lines, to help change mood.
Ages 5 and up. At least one parent must accompany children.
TIME: Saturday, April 18, 9:00 to 10:30
COST: $15 per family
LOCATION: Chagrin Falls Middle School Library, 342 E. Washington St., Chagrin Falls, OH 44022
INSTRUCTOR: Kristen Boyesen
REGISTER: Call 440-247-5375 - (Voice Message 24 Hours a Day.) Leave your name, phone number, course title (Parent-Child Bonding), and if you are a resident or non-resident. You will be contacted for further information.
Kristen Boyesen is a Life Learning and Creativity Coach, member of COSE, Cleveland Coach Federation, American Holistic Medical Association and Eldercare Professionals of Ohio. She has over twenty years’ experience as an art instructor and exhibits her art in galleries in New York and Ohio. She is pursuing graduate studies in Art Therapy at Ursuline College.
