Class report 1-22

A beginning painting from tonight's class. It began as one of the demonstrations, then kept going! I will post it at Wilderness Art when it has been completed. I must say, the colors came out a bit strange. I think the scanner looked through the top layers of paint to the underpainting!

Tomorrow I will scan and post the other demonstration of 'one way to start a painting'.

Draw and Paint: Jan 22

I know this is late, but it has been a very busy week!

Tonight's class will be at Sylvia's. I will be demonstrating the starting of two acrylic paintings, explaining how to make decisions for composition and color. Both demos will be short, leaving two full hours for class members to start and finish their own artworks. Yup, finish. It isn't the detail which makes an artwork. It is the way the imagery draws interest through color, line, and differences in the light and dark areas.

Please bring your art materials. Include an easel or small portable table if you have one. Bring your own photo or choose from those provided. Arrive at 6:30 for set-up and news exchange. Class will start promptly at 7:00, and continues until 9:30.

Above right is an Imagination Arts image that was drawn at last week's class warm-up. Can you tell what it is? Does it even matter?

Nope! That is the difference between the two programs I offer. Imagination Arts is all about stimulating the imagination, not making artworks.

Class report

Our first class at Sylvia's was a success. With the bigger space available at her studio, there is room for three more students for this Monday evening class. Call the number in yesterday's post for more information.

Meanwhile, I posted a photo in White Light of Peace that I said I was going to make into a painting, and today I was able to start on it. Here is the "in progress" painting of "Lake Wauberg through Spanish Moss." I will scan and post the finished painting when it is complete.
