Imagination Arts™ for Wellness, Rehabilitation, and Fun

With Bedford artist, motivational speaker, and art teacher Kristen S. Boyesen

A workshop to relieve stress, reduce pain, exercise the brain and activate intuition. Based on the book, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards, the exercises, developed by Boyesen especially for “non-artists”, ease access to right-brain global thinking, timelessness, “aha” moments and creative thinking for life enrichment through heightened awareness and perceptions. Interesting objects are used for observation and meditation, and, without looking at the paper, participants do Recorded Eye Movement™ drawings. After the observational/recording period, the drawing is a fun surprise! No art experience needed. Materials are provided.

“This exercise was unlike any other. I’ve never really thought of something so simple being so relaxing.” (Niki, Burning River Fest, 2007, Cleveland)

“I get relief from the severe pain while doing art, my memory... is improving, and (my) depression ... is lifting.” …“My kids have ADHD. When I see they are on a path to losing control, we do the exercises, and they calm down.” (Dennis, stroke and broken neck survivor doing art and Imagination Arts™ with Kristen since 02/02/05.

Imagination Arts in North Olmstead:

Need a Break From Stress?

Want to Awaken Creativity?

Imagination Arts participants learn to achieve a meditative state through Recorded Eye Movement™ exercises, for access to the non-linear right-brain. In this global thinking part of the brain, one enters a state of calm, opens awareness, and sets the stage for creating “aha” moments. There will also be a slide presentation, music movement, group discussion, and other group activities.

Testimonial:
I have been studying art, meditation and intuition for many years.

However, all that has been dramatically advanced once I began to study with Kristen Boyesen. Her art class is far more than drawing lessons. I am learning about life, paying attention to my energy field, and experiencing sheer joy just being around her! Her passion for life and art are wonderfully contagious! I heartily recommend Imagination Arts to anyone who wants to gain access to their dormant creativity and joy.

Art Classes in Bedford, OH

I migrated to the New Blogger, and things went just fine. I have not yet tried to do White Light of Peace.

The Monday night Draw and Paint classes will need to be flexible in the future, and I will post a schedule each week for the dates of upcoming sessions. The session for this week will be at Sylvia's on Monday, February 12.

Future classes will be on Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday, depending on other things scheduled for the week.

Cleveland Art Classes, Every Monday

This art class meets every Monday just two minutes from the Broadway-Forbes exit off 271.

I had been making regular posts, but was afraid Blogger would give me the ultimatum next time I logged in. They did. This is supposedly my last post until I switch to the new Blogger.

The process is very tricky for some. I have not yet dared to do it. If this blog remains unchanged for a long time, it probably means that I have to go through the switching process to be allowed access. The forum for bloggers asking for help with this process is pages and pages long. I would rather wait until the 'bugs' are ironed out before making the attempt.

So, this blog may quiet for awhile if I am given the ultimatum.

The art classes go on!

Draw and Paint: Jan 29

Tonight's class is at Sylvia's, and will begin with Imagination Arts warmup exercises.

Please bring your art materials. Include an easel if that is your preferred method for doing art. Bring your own photo or choose from those provided. A new painting or drawing is started every week to intensify the learning process. Finish at home and bring to next class for critique.

Arrive at 6:30 for set-up and news exchange. Class will start promptly at 7:00, and continues until 9:30.

Call (two one six) 577-9874 for details.

Class report 1-22

A beginning painting from tonight's class. It began as one of the demonstrations, then kept going! I will post it at Wilderness Art when it has been completed. I must say, the colors came out a bit strange. I think the scanner looked through the top layers of paint to the underpainting!

Tomorrow I will scan and post the other demonstration of 'one way to start a painting'.

Draw and Paint: Jan 22

I know this is late, but it has been a very busy week!

Tonight's class will be at Sylvia's. I will be demonstrating the starting of two acrylic paintings, explaining how to make decisions for composition and color. Both demos will be short, leaving two full hours for class members to start and finish their own artworks. Yup, finish. It isn't the detail which makes an artwork. It is the way the imagery draws interest through color, line, and differences in the light and dark areas.

Please bring your art materials. Include an easel or small portable table if you have one. Bring your own photo or choose from those provided. Arrive at 6:30 for set-up and news exchange. Class will start promptly at 7:00, and continues until 9:30.

Call two one six-577-9874 for details.

Above right is an Imagination Arts image that was drawn at last week's class warm-up. Can you tell what it is? Does it even matter?

Nope! That is the difference between the two programs I offer. Imagination Arts is all about stimulating the imagination, not making artworks.

Class report

Our first class at Sylvia's was a success. With the bigger space available at her studio, there is room for three more students for this Monday evening class. Call the number in yesterday's post for more information.

Meanwhile, I posted a photo in White Light of Peace that I said I was going to make into a painting, and today I was able to start on it. Here is the "in progress" painting of "Lake Wauberg through Spanish Moss." I will scan and post the finished painting when it is complete.

Saturday, January 13, 2007

Draw and Paint: Jan 15

The next Draw and Paint class will be this coming Monday at Sylvia's. Please bring your art materials. Include an easel or small portable table if you have one. There will be a warm-up exercise using Imagination Arts games followed by instruction on how to start a painting in acrylic. This class will focus on learning how to choose what is important from a source photo, ignoring the endless details. Bring your own photo or choose from those provided.

Arrive at 6:30 for set-up and news exchange. Class will start promptly at 7:00, and continues until 9:30.

Call two one six-577-9874 for details.

Art Classes

Art Classes are available in my home, in your home, at your club, activity center or retreat.

Art Experiences offers two kinds of programs. The Art Classes program helps participants create finished drawings and paintings.

The Imagination Arts games and exercises are for art class warm-up and are fun as an entire program for team-building, retreats, rehabilitation, and social activity.
